View DetailsThree people have died and four are missing following an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant in northern Italy. The blast occurred underwater at the plant on Lake Suviana, 70km (43 miles) from the city of Bologna on Tuesday.
The company expressed its deepest condolences and closeness to all the victims and their families and said that while there was no indication that the dam had suffered any damage, the power plant had stopped production. Three people are dead and several missing after a fire at a hydroelectric plant near Bologna.
"Protecting human lives comes before profit," he added. According to state agency Inail, more than 590,000 workers were injured in Italy last year, including 1,147 who lost their lives. Better workplace safety was one of the demands behind a national strike held on Nov. 29.
