For example, the physical-based modelling method of mechanical energy storage systems mainly utilise theories in mechanics, thermodynamics or fluid dynamics. The mathematical equations governing components with strong correlations are amalgamated to build the model [,, ].

With increasing power of the energy storage systems and the share of their use in electric power systems, their influence on operation modes and transient processes becomes significant.
Typically energy storage devices are supercapacitors (SC), superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), flywheel energy storage systems (FESS), batteries, hybrid ESS, thermal energy storage (TES), EESS, HFO, CES, Li-ion storage systems, etc. The need for safety and life cycle tracking as a complex network is the ultimate concern.
